This is a unique opportunity for a passionate, food-loving senior professional to build and lead development and expansion of capabilities in contemporary food and beverage industry marketing and communications, including multi-channel marketing and communications, digital and social engagement, creative content development and data-based connection strategies within Padilla’s Food, Beverage and Nutrition (FBN) sector, working across its Padilla and FoodMinds brands. The position will be based in one of Padilla’s East Coast offices, ideally New York, or Washington, D.C.
The Food and Beverage Vice President/Senior Vice President (dependent on experience) will be responsible for business development, client service and team leadership among the agency’s diverse food, beverage and nutrition clients. The qualified candidate will be an expert with a proven track record in food and beverage marketing across a wide range of traditional and digital channels, and have expertise in branded food, consumer marketing and food retail disciplines.
Primary responsibilities include:
Business development: helping the agency identify, prospect and secure clients that complement its current portfolio.
Leading client work: serving as strategic advisor and bringing new expertise/services to current and new integrated marketing and communications clients with digital at the core. This person will develop and maintain strong, trusted relationships with clients and will have oversight and responsibility for client relationships, strategic direction, program planning, budgeting and staffing of several clients that he/she manages.
Managing account teams: supervise integrated account teams and several direct reports. Provide the resources and direction to elevate staff in their professional growth and development.
Assist the agency in development and expansion of its capabilities in contemporary food and beverage industry marketing and communications, including multi-channel marketing and communications, digital and social engagement, creative content development and data-based connection strategies.
Bringing the agency’s Connect with Purpose approach to life through digital food and beverage content and engagement strategies.
Tapping personal and agency relationships with vendors, influencers and former clients to build the capability and business.
Driving visible food thought leadership in the food, beverage, nutrition space; potential extension into the public affairs, science, agriculture and health space. Strong involvement in agency promotional activities, including representing the firm at industry forums and special events.
Close collaboration with FBN leadership, Padilla services (i.e., branding, digital, creative, insights, data, analytics) and sister agency resources to build and launch the new food marketing and communications capabilities. Participate in annual business planning for the sector.
Ensuring delivery of agency services at maximum value and highest possible quality, given the scope and budget, to meet client needs.

Job Requirements and Qualifications -
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
Additional credentials in food industry, and/or digital preferred
Experience:
Minimum of 15 years of demonstrated leadership progression within public relations/marketing communications professional services industry
Agency experience required; relevant client-side experience preferred
Knowledge/Skill Requirements:
Passion for food, beverage and nutrition.
Experience developing and leading consumer brand (CPG) food and beverage integrated marketing campaigns.
Advanced knowledge and experience in digital marketing and understanding of e-commerce within the food and beverage industry.
Advanced knowledge and experience using research, insights and data to drive behavior change.
Advanced knowledge of sales and marketing concepts to pursue business development.
Food and beverage PR experience with expertise leading integrated marketing campaigns, and all aspects of digital strategy and activations planning and execution. Expertise and knowledge in food and beverage e-commerce and innovative influencer tools.
Proven ability to break new ground by finding unique, creative and effective ways to solve problems and maximize opportunities on behalf of our clients and the firm.
Demonstrated strategic leadership and business management experience.
Strong integrated marketing experience at mid-sized or large agencies.
Comfortable with public speaking and presentations.
Advanced knowledge of supervisory and management principles and practices.
Financial management abilities, including budgeting and efficient management of large, complex clients and projects.
Intermediate skill in reading, analyzing, and interpreting financial reports and legal documents.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products and other applicable software applications.
Proven track-record for growing business through new client acquisition and organic growth of current clients.
Exemplary ability to network at high levels in prospective clients’ organizations.
Demonstrated leadership in RFP processes and proposal development.
Active in the communications and/or food industries through professional organizations or industry trade organizations; serving in a leadership role preferred.
Skilled in developing long-term strategic direction for clients that’s based on sound research and transformative insights.
Experience managing client portfolios in excess of $2 million.
Demonstrated superior level of teamwork and relationship-building.
Physical Requirements
Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
30-40% travel, mostly domestic with some potential for international.
