Deja Cox Joins from CAA As Partner Lead
SATURDAY MORNING, the movement created by leading African American creative leaders to promote peace, announced that it was expanding its team with the addition of Deja Cox in the new role of Partner Lead. Deja is a Brand Agent at Observatory (formerly CAA Marketing) where she has worked in its entertainment marketing group for nearly five years.
SATURDAY MORNING has launched numerous initiatives since its founding nearly two years ago. The group is building more direct relationships with marketers and recently launched a program with SPOTIFY that takes Black History Month into a year long initiative, “Black History is Happening Now,” an ongoing celebration of the contributions of African American’s to music.
In commenting on SATURDAY MORNING’s growth, Geoff Edwards, founding partner and Executive Creative Director at R/GA LA said, “As we grow, we will continue to add talented and dedicated leaders like Deja, who are willing to support our non-profit cause. Deja’s background in entertainment marketing at CAA and cause related efforts for the Salvation Army makes her a perfect fit for our organization. Like all of us at SATURDAY MORNING, she has desire to bring change and awareness through creativity.”
Deja will work with SATURDAY MORNING’s ongoing initiatives. In particular, she will help oversee its growing relationships with Spotify and Proctor & Gamble.
“SATURDAY MORNING combines my passion and interests in social justice with my work in marketing. It gives me an opportunity to have an impact on people’s lives,” explained Deja Cox, on her interest in joining SATURDAY MORNING.
“As we grow we’re looking to deepen our level of engagement and strengthen the relationships we have with our partners,” explained Kwame Taylor-Hayford, SATURDAY MORNING founder and Managing Director at Chobani. “Deja is a talented leader and shares a passion for our cause. We’re very excited to have her on board.”
Other ongoing projects that SATURDAY MORNING is spearheading is the expansion of its Peace Brief’s, a line of underwear for men and women designed with purpose built waistbands with such lines as “I am not armed,” and “Please Don’t Shoot.” The Peace Briefs are designed to impact potential crisis’ with police and minorities.
