Infographic: Going to the Cloud

By / / More and more educational institutions — from public schools to universities — are turning to cloud computing solutions for their data needs. K-12 schools and colleges are increasing their reliance on cloud-based computing by roughly the same rate, with K-12 schools expecting to spend 27% of their IT budget on cloud computing in 5 years, and colleges expecting to spend 24% of their IT budget on such programs. As of May 2011, 27% of K-12 and 34% of colleges are working with a cloud computing solution in their school or district. So cloud computing in education is already well on its way. Cloud computing is not without its downfalls however — among these are the capacity to overload a school’s network, and an inability to access data when the network is down.
