By / / Tomorrow will be a momentous day. A frabjous day! Callooh! Callay! Jack Link’s, the jerky company started out of a Wisconsin car trunk, has announced June 12th as the inaugural National Jerky Day. Finally, the deliciously meaty and salty snacks will have a day of their own. America and jerky go way back: the practice of drying meat dates to Native American and European settlers who needed highly portable and satiating foods that didn’t require refrigeration. Jerky is of special interest to snackers today as it offers a delicious and satisfying snack that is high in protein but low in carbs and fats. To celebrate National Jerky Day, Jack Link’s teamed up with artist Jason Mecier to create a mosaic of Sasquatch, their official mascot, made out of jerky, to be displayed at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota and on Jack Link’s Facebook page. Jack Link’s is also launching a new TV campaign with Carmichael Lynch called “Snackin’ With Sasquatch.” The campaign will build off the successful “Messin” With Sasquatch” series, finding Sasquatch out of his natural environment and interacting with jerky fans in the carpool lane and the conference room. So remember tomorrow, when you’re hungry for a snack, reach for the salty/meaty deliciousness that can only be found with jerky.
