Uber Offers Free Cab Rides This Week

To build excitement for their new request-a-ride app for Yellow Cabs in New York City, Uber is offering free cab rides through the service. The promotion began yesterday at 8 A.M. and continues until Tuesday, September 11th at 11:59 P.M.

It's exciting enough that Uber is offering an easier way to hail a taxi -- a notoriously difficult task in the city -- but a free cab ride? Who doesn't want that? There are, of course, limitations: each ride is free only up to a 25 dollar value. And obviously you can only use the service once during the promotion. That's still nothing to sneeze at.

“We’re giving a free ride to every New Yorker,” Uber NYC General Manager Josh Mohrer told Betabeat by email.

Thanks to Uber you can skip the subway at least once this weekend.
