Work Submission: Leo Burnett NY & 'The Village Voice' Announce New Partnership
New York Writes Itself, the Leo Burnett user-generated content campaign we profiled back in October, just got a key expansion. Leo Burnett New York announced it has partnered with The Village Voice, opening the New York Writes Itself platform to the more than three million monthly readers of The Village Voice.
“The Village Voice and NYWI have a common goal: to capture the real, uncensored voice of New York, and to build a community of New Yorkers around this voice,” explained Jay Benjamin, Chief Creative Officer of Leo Burnett New York.
New York Writes Itself, for those who need a refresher (and don’t like clicking links), is a website that acts as a running archive for submissions by New York citizens of quotes, characters and scenes witnessed in the city.
Now the best submissions from the NYWI website, will be featured within The Village Voice every month. Village Voice Publisher Josh Fromson said he was thrilled with the partnership, adding, “For over 50 years the Voice has been a staple, downtown soundboard for all New Yorkers. ‘The Script’ allows our readers to tell their true, gritty, heartfelt New York stories the way only true New Yorkers can.”
But the New York Writes Itself content in The Village Voice is only the beginning of this partnership. This summer, Village Voice and NYWI will unveil an Off-Broadway production inspired by NYWI, as well as a webisode comedy series. Expect to hear a lot more about New York Writes Itself in the future.
